Manchester United would be interested in making a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes should a deal be in the offing, according to the Sun.

Man United were keen on a move for West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes but are unwilling to meet the Hammers’ demands and have moved on to other targets.

The Red Devils are monitoring the situation of Guimaraes but it is unknown if the Magpies are willing to sell the Brazilian.

Arsenal want the 28-year-old, who created 45 chances in 29 Premier League games last term, and talks are ongoing with his representatives.

Man United will need to offer more cash to pip the Gunners to Guimaraes should Newcastle agree to selling him as he enters the last two years of his contract.

Casemiro reportedly recommended his international teammate to the Red Devils, but nothing concrete has happened despite several reports linking the club with an interest.

The Newcastle star would be a solid addition to the Man United midfield, and manager Michael Carrick could do with his defensive and attacking strengths.

Guimaraes bagged nine league goals and six assists last term, and was involved in 11 league goals in 2024-25, 15 goals in 2023-24 and nine goals in 2022-23.

He is an upgrade on Fernandes despite the huge talent and potential of the West Ham star, but signing him will prove tricky for Man United and other suitors.

It is still early days in the summer transfer window and nothing can be guaranteed right now, especially with the World Cup going on.

The Red Devils will continue to keep tabs on his situation and other players going forward, and signing such a quality midfielder could make all the difference in their Premier League title push next season.
