Manchester United have launched a move to sign teenage sensation Tynan Thompson from Tottenham Hotspur, positioning themselves to secure a deal for the highly coveted winger this summer.
After learning of the developmental opportunity last week, United’s recruitment team acted swiftly, putting together a comprehensive financial package to lure the player away from North London.
To avoid any late complications, United have already instructed their medical staff to arrange a formal examination and conduct fitness checks before finalising the registration paperwork.
United’s urgency is driven by growing continental competition. German side Hamburger SV have also shown strong interest in the 18-year-old winger, discussing a pathway that would offer Thompson a clear route to senior football.
Aware that delays could prompt further competition, United’s leadership are keen to finalise the deal as soon as possible.
For Manchester United, securing Thompson would represent a significant youth scouting success. At 6ft 2in, the left-footed attacker boasts a rare combination of explosive pace, technical dribbling, and physical presence.
After developing with the Lambeth Tigers before joining Tottenham, Thompson’s stock has risen sharply over the past year.
He played a key role in Spurs’ U17 Premier League Cup triumph in 2025 and was later promoted to senior training, earning a place on the bench for Tottenham’s UEFA Champions League squad against Borussia Dortmund.
Thompson’s representatives are impressed by the clear developmental pathway outlined by United’s technical directors, who view the England Under-18 international as a key building block for their long-term plans on the flanks.
