Roberto Mancini has distanced himself from questions over an alleged double contract linked to his Manchester City spell, as scrutiny of the club’s finances continues.

Speaking before Italy’s Nations League meeting with Türkiye on Monday, he laughed nervously and asked what City were supposed to be guilty of. According to The Athletic, the club have been found guilty of 114 of the 115 alleged financial breaches and could face heavy punishment, including the loss of trophies won between 2009 and 2018.

Mancini managed City from 2009 to 2013, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

When a reporter suggested the alleged double contract was among the case files, the 61-year-old said it was not his concern, adding the issue had been debated for four or five years. He insisted City had not been found guilty and that any such contract was a matter for the club, not him.

Beyond that, he remained evasive.
