According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica are said to have set Vangelis Pavlidis’s price at €50 million, leaving Besiktas’s interest unlikely to develop into talks.
Maniche views the fee as a signal that Benfica do not wish to sell, adding that the Turkish club are unlikely to meet that demand.
He also argued that Benfica currently lack a credible replacement for the Greek forward. In his view, letting him go would be a risk given the club’s ambition to go deep in the Europa League and the strong seasons Pavlidis has produced.
Nuno Farinha likewise questioned the chances of a move to Besiktas, though he noted that the market could shift if a financially irresistible offer emerges. He believes Pavlidis fits Marco Silva’s approach, so keeping the striker would make the most sense for the coaching staff.
Farinha added that Rui Costa has spoken about investing in the market, but Benfica are not in the Champions League and have yet to secure the Europa League, factors that could influence any decision should a major bid arrive.
