Roma is looking for a sporting director to replace Frederic Massara.
The current Giallorossi sporting director has never really gelled with Gasperini on a technical level.
Mishaps, misunderstandings, and a lack of clarity have led to confusion.
The Roman club has its sights set on several candidates, including Giovanni Manna, whom the Grugliasco-based coach favors.
For the Friedkins, however, there’s a problem to overcome: the contract that ties him to Napoli until 2029, led by Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is reluctant to release his own players.
Despite the temptation to join Roma, Giovanni Manna continues to work for Napoli.
As reported by Il Mattino, the Neapolitan sporting director is considering the transfer market and the renewals of the Azzurri players whose contracts are expiring: Rrahmani’s extension is ready and will be announced in the coming days.
De Laurentiis and Manna could, in any case, meet to renegotiate the terms of the agreement that ties the director to Napoli until 2029.
The Friedkins are reportedly willing to triple the Napoli sporting director’s current salary, but the deal seems difficult given the Neapolitan president’s inflexibility, who refuses to release his own players, especially to a rival for a Champions League spot.
