Manu Kone fully focused on Roma after failed Chelsea transfer | OneFootball

Serie A side Roma had come close to losing Manu Kone in the summer as Chelsea had stepped forward for a late deal. But the player is now satisfied at the Giallorossi and is grateful for helping him improve.

The midfielder has been key for Roma this season, particularly making a mark  against Inter by grabbing a brace in a 2-2 draw.

He was also called up to the French national team and he has been important for them during the international break too.

Kone spoke to the media at the press conference of the game involving France and Italy. He made it clear that the Chelsea transfer saga is well behind him.

He said: “Things have happened for me, but I’m at Roma, I’m focused. What happened has happened. I give 100% for this club, I’ll give everything to meet expectations, and that’s all.”

The midfielder also looked back on his time in Rome, thanking the Giallorossi for how he has grown.

“When I arrived in Italy, I was younger (I was 23), and that brought maturity to my playing style. I became more focused. Tactically, I didn’t have the skills I have now. I also improved my energy management, which made me the player I am today.”

“I was going through a difficult period at Borussia Mönchengladbach (where I played from 2021 to 2024), and Roma approached me; I’m very grateful to them.”

Kone will be key for Roma this season, which is why Gasperini had convinced the club into keeping him. Signs of his importance have alrready been seen and his prominence will only grow from now.
