Marc Casado breaks silence on Barcelona future amid possible summer departure | OneFootball

The midfielder Marc Casado is one of the players that FC Barcelona have put on sale since the end of the last season. The Spanish midfielder, after playing quite a lot of matches in the 2024-25 season, lost prominence last season with the return of other midfielders like Gavi and Marc Bernal. With seven midfielders present in the Blaugrana squad and there being only three midfield spots in Flick’s scheme, the Spaniard’s fortunes are not expected to improve next season either.

However, a recent development could change the Catalan club’s plans about the midfielder, namely, the physical problems of Frenkie de Jong. If the Dutchman’s problems turn out to be serious, he could be sidelined for quite a long time, and Barcelona are counting on Casado to replace him.

The midfielder’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been looking for possible new clubs for his client for the last several weeks, but has not yet obtained a proposal that satisfies both the Blaugrana club and the player.

Meanwhile, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Casado appeared in an interview with the program Tot Costa on Catalunya Radio, and made it clear that he wants to continue at his current club. In this regard, the midfielder commented:

“I want to stay. But if someone doesn’t want me to, they should tell me.”

Casado explained that he still has to undertake some talks before making a decision about his future:

“There are still things that we need to discuss with the coach and the sporting management. Also with my agent.”

The Spaniard reiterated his desire to stay while also keeping the door to his departure open:

“Nobody can doubt that I want to stay here. If someone tells me that they don’t want me here, then we will have to find the best solution for all parties involved.”

It remains to be seen how the future of Marc Casado will pan out. He clearly wants to stay, and Frenkie de Jong’s potential serious injury could also cause Barcelona to change their plans regarding him. However, he could also be a source of significant income for the Catalan club, especially as the Blaugranes are looking to strengthen other areas of the team this summer and would need these funds.
