Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has said a Barcelona return would be hard to refuse if the chance arose. “It would be difficult to refuse. It’s not just about me. I’d have to think about my family. If it happens, it happens, and we’ll see what decision is made,” he told Marca ahead of Spain’s meeting with Egypt.
The Spain international came through La Masia but, with Jordi Alba first choice, he left to seek minutes. A loan at Eibar preceded a move to Getafe, where he impressed. Brighton signed him before a €65m switch to Chelsea in 2022.
“You always think about going back. I’m very happy there, and so is my family. I’ll leave it for a few years from now…”
Since breaking into Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad, he has been a regular for La Roja. Although Barcelona are reported to be open to offers for Alejandro Balde this summer, Cucurella is not on their shortlist. He is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2028 and, while Chelsea may consider a new deal, he appears beyond Barcelona’s price range for now, with left-back not a priority.
He was once tipped for the Barcelona first team after emerging from La Masia.
