Corinthians football executive Marcelo Paz has confirmed talks with Botafogo over striker Arthur Cabral, stressing that there is interest but no agreement or concrete progress. He spoke moments before the Copa do Brasil draw at CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.

According to Globo.com, the clubs are discussing a one-year loan until April 2026 with an option to buy at the end of the deal. The main obstacle is how the forward’s salary would be split.

Corinthians believe Cabral’s wages exceed the cap set by president Osmar Stabile, and want Botafogo to cover at least part of the pay packet. Discussions have also involved the player’s representatives.

Cabral joined Botafogo in June 2025 as a signing for the Club World Cup window in the United States. Since then, amid form swings and injuries, he has not fully established himself as the leading centre-forward.

He has made 40 appearances for Botafogo, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His contract runs to the end of 2028, and Botafogo agreed a 15 million euros, R$ 95 million, package with Benfica, combining a fixed fee and performance bonuses, to complete his transfer.
