Marcelo Saracchi to Celtic transfer latest as clubs set for talks | OneFootball

Celtic are set to open transfer talks over a permanent deal to sign Marcelo Saracchi. Reports from Argentina suggest that the Celtic hierarchy will meet with their counterparts at Boca Juniors in two weeks to discuss a deal to sign the 28-year-old beyond the end of his loan deal.

As reported by German Garcia Grova on Twitter, Celtic want to sign Saracchi and will sit down for talks in the coming weeks as they look to iron out the details to acquire the left-back.

Saracchi injects energy and directness to the team whenever he is involved and there have been some sections of the support calling for him to get more minutes on the park, especially as it will allow Kieran Tierney’s minutes to be managed. Despite suffering from his own share of injuries this season, Saracchi has scored once and assisted twice in 23 appearances with fans receiving him warmly.

It is a deal that Celtic should look to get done, especially at an early juncture as the Uruguayan appears to enjoy life at Celtic and if he is willing to sign then a deal should be done quickly.

Celtic need to do a number of things in the summer, including restructuring the footballing department, appointing a manager and overseeing a rebuild of the playing staff. There is unlikely to be a lot of pushback to making Saracchi’s deal permanent, the only criticism would be that the new manager may want to bring players in that fit his style of play and with KT on a long term deal, he may prefer a youthful alternative as opposed to Saracchi.
