Marco Silva has placed Manu Silva in his plans for 2026/27, offering the midfielder a fresh start at Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, the 25-year-old could see far more minutes as the coach backs his potential.

The Portuguese midfielder joined from Vitória de Guimarães in January 2025 for 12 million euros, plus 2 million in add-ons. Shortly after arriving, he suffered a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a match against Moreirense, when Alexander Bah sustained a similar injury.

After 290 days out, he returned late last season. He made 12 appearances, three of them starts, and did not secure regular minutes under José Mourinho.

Silva values Manu’s versatility. He can operate as a defensive midfielder, as a number eight, or slot in at centre-back.

With the futures of Richard Ríos and Enzo Barrenechea still unresolved, the Benfica man has fresh impetus in the squad. After misfortune stalled his progress, he now aims to reset and compete for a significant role at the Estádio da Luz.
