Marco Silva on alert as Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea ‘among the most interested’ in Tomás Araújo | OneFootball

Benfica are facing mounting Premier League interest in centre-back Tomás Araújo, with several English clubs tracking him closely.

TEAMtalk reports that Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea are among the most interested in the 24-year-old. The report adds that Manchester United have intensified their monitoring after his display against Milan.

Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton are also following the Portugal international, and are said to have watched him over the past month in Portugal.

The situation carries added weight given his importance to Marco Silva. The defender has been a regular in the Benfica XI since António Silva’s move to Bournemouth last summer.

The number 44 has started 11 of his 12 appearances this season. Bayern Munich are tracking him as well, although there is currently no offer or negotiations under way.
