Marco Silva yet to be convinced by three Benfica players | OneFootball

Marco Silva has begun shaping Benfica’s approach and, at this early stage, Enzo Barrenechea, Bruma and Tiago Gouveia have yet to fully convince him.

According to Glorioso 1904, he gave the squad Sunday off after an intense opening week of pre-season that mixed demanding physical work with the first steps of his game plan.

The opening friendly ended 2-2 against Caldas, a reminder that there is still plenty to refine. The coaching staff are assessing players individually, and some may need to raise their level to secure a first-team place.

Benfica are not in a hurry to negotiate any of the three, but none has cemented his place under Silva so far. Barrenechea and Bruma have uncertain futures, while Gouveia faces strong competition in attacking roles and is among the likelier departures in this window.

After the first week, Silva is preparing to trim the group. The next warm-up will be against Flamengo on Saturday at Estádio Algarve, though the team will also play another friendly on Wednesday at Benfica Campus.
