Businessman Marcos Faria Lamacchia spoke publicly for the first time about his interest in buying 90% of the shares of the club’s football operation. Marcos Lamacchia harshly criticized the group of the chairman’s former allies who filed the lawsuit, accusing them of sabotaging the future of the Giant of the Hill for personal interests and vanity. The businessman detailed the former player’s role in leading the sale process and made a serious accusation against former vice president of finance Silvio Almeida, who denies any contact:

“What’s missing is for this group that wants to bring Pedrinho down to stop stirring up chaos. They have many personal interests. I consider the negotiation concluded. A negotiation of this size has many stages; it’s not simple. We had intense talks, contract back-and-forth for nearly 2 years, but they are trying to discredit the negotiation, inventing stories and narratives to call into question the credibility of those who have always acted correctly on Vasco’s side. They want to make the fans and public opinion believe there is a lack of transparency — that is a lie.”

“There were more than 10 people on Vasco’s side, including those currently causing turmoil, and the only ones who in fact had personal interests, who made requests, were removed from the process and now complain, filed the lawsuit, and demand transparency. What is most shocking is that less than 24 hours after the court decision that removed Pedrinho, Silvio Almeida contacted my team to change the terms of the agreement. Silvio is a partner of Carregal and Marco Schroeder, president of the SAF’s Fiscal Council, the same one who drafted the opinion that paved the way for the lawsuit that removed Pedrinho. They are partners in a judicial administration firm, but one that is hindering Vasco’s judicial recovery.”

“Silvio is also one of those indicted at Vasco for having taken part in the sale to 777. With what interest does a dismissed vice president come to us the day after the decision to renegotiate a closed deal? Given how close he is to the court-appointed administrator who resigned, did he want to be the new representative of the court? Why do they want so badly to return to the negotiation? Is this the governance the Fiscal Council defends?”

Lamacchia’s son also addressed the surprising resignation letter from court-appointed administrator Samantha Mendes Longo, prompted by serious personal safety issues. In the São Paulo investor’s view, the technical report delivered by the lawyer weakened the opposition’s arguments by proving the administration’s full integrity and strict compliance with the goals of the Judicial Recovery process:

“It became clear that the intervention was not necessary. That it was a maneuver, and that the Judiciary and the court-appointed administrator herself were misled. The administration was doing well, with only the usual day-to-day adjustments. That became clear in the administrator’s lightning-fast report. And it was precisely this abrupt, unnecessary intervention, also clearly linked to Silvio Almeida, that created an absolutely unstable and unsustainable environment. The scheme to disrupt and interrupt the deal was laid bare. No one fools everyone all the time. But the administrator was impartial, and the lightning-fast report proved the absence of irregularities in the management. With her departure, this group’s house of cards collapsed for good. It no longer makes sense to keep this decision in place.

Keeping this phantom intervention going only delays Vasco’s life. The administrator saw the size of the problem. The risk of discontinuity that the fiscal council pointed out ended up becoming reality after this maneuver. There is uncertainty about the future for creditors, and football signings remain on hold. Lamacchia denies help from Palmeiras and demands urgency over reinforcements

Marcos Lamacchia also took the opportunity to dismiss market rumors, confirm that he is already speaking directly with the CBF to approve the business model, and deny any involvement by Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, behind the scenes of the transaction. The businessman explained that the project will rely only on his father José Roberto Lamacchia’s assets as the full guarantor of the debts, and concluded by calling for responsibility to avoid harming the team in the Brazilian Championship:

“More than that, my father’s wife has absolutely nothing to do with this. She does a great job. She inspires me a lot, but my goal is to surpass her. My father will be the guarantor; he has put up his entire assets to guarantee everything. My father’s assets cover all the debt in Brazilian football. So the creditors can rest easy, and so can the judge overseeing the Judicial Recovery.”

The investor warned that irresponsible litigation has paralyzed the Rio club’s operations with creditors and frozen football planning during the midseason break. The aggressive statement paints a realistic picture of market deadlines and urges the Rio de Janeiro courts to act quickly so that Fernando Seabra’s new coaching staff can receive new additions and compete in matches with dignity:
