Michael Carrick’s Manchester United were at their counter-attacking best in the Manchester derby, registering a memorable 2-0 win over their noisy neighbours.
Bruno Fernandes linked up brilliantly with Bryan Mbeumo to trouble Manchester City on the transition, reminiscent of his partnership with Marcus Rashford at their finest during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign.
Now, Rashford is part of Hansi Flick’s attack at Barcelona. The United academy product is currently on a season-long loan in Spain. Despite Ruben Amorim’s departure, INEOS have no plans to reintegrate the Englishman into their squad.
Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Barcelona recently held a meeting with Manchester United over extending Marcus Rashford‘s stay at Camp Nou.
The Blaugrana have an option to sign Rashford permanently for €30 million. However, the financially stricken club’s intention is to negotiate a lower fee for the 28-year-old.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona have made their “first official offer” for Rashford. The said bid is thought to be worth an initial €18m, which could rise to €22m.
However, United are not convinced by Barca’s proposal, as they believe the England international, who has been directly involved in 19 goals across all competitions, is worth more.
The Premier League giants want Barcelona to exercise their buy option.
Rashford is determined to continue with the La Liga leaders, having received a vote of confidence from Flick.
The pacey forward left his boyhood club after falling out with Amorim, who also had a tricky relationship with Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo, however, is not going to be allowed to depart Old Trafford anytime soon.
It is understood that the dynamic midfielder is admired by both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Alex Ferguson. Michael Carrick has reportedly been urged to hand regular minutes to the youngster.
