Marino Hinestroza arrived for R$ 30 million early this year with unanimous backing inside the football department and excited supporters. Three months on, he has yet to ignite and has slipped in Renato Gaúcho’s pecking order.
According to Globo.com, staff across the club identify confidence and expectation issues. He looks anxious in matches and has not reproduced his Atlético Nacional level, particularly from early 2025.
His integration is viewed as mishandled. He arrived out of shape, struggled with Fernando Diniz’s training methods at the start of 2026 and was fielded before the medical staff felt ideal.
His signing was announced on 27 January and he featured on 2 February. The same accelerated timeline also applied to forward Brenner, with both returning from long holidays.
Short of rhythm at first and then confidence, he also carried the weight of replacing Rayan. The Colombian hoped to become a leading figure quickly, but that has not happened.
He has started only two matches this season. Across 13 appearances he has neither scored nor assisted.
Since the last match against Audax Italiano, when fans criticised his display, Renato Gaúcho has not used him. He stayed on the bench against São Paulo, Paysandu and Corinthians.
