Marseille interested in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo | OneFootball

Marseille were interested in making a move for England international midfielder Kobbie Mainoo (20), but Manchester United have closed the door on the Ligue 1 side, as per Foot Mercato. The 20-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game this season with his formative club under the tutelage of Ruben Amorim. Mainoo has reportedly asked to leave the Red Devils on loan in search of game time before the 2026 World Cup.

On their part, Marseille are in the market for a midfielder as Adrien Rabiot is still not being reintegrated into Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. OM have failed in their attempt to convince Spain international Dani Ceballos to bolster the Italian manager’s squad despite reaching an agreement with Real Madrid. Marseille play Lyon away this Sunday for Ligue 1’s third matchday. It remains to be seen whether OM will make a second approach for Mainoo, but it appears unlikely.
