Bild reports that Marseille are interested in signing Werder Bremen defender Karim Coulibaly this summer and are among the most keen suitors, although no formal approach has been made.

Despite uncertainty over the identity of Olympique de Marseille’s sporting director for next season, planning for the summer window is under way.

The 18-year-old defender has featured in 22 Bundesliga games this season for a Bremen side battling relegation.

Should Bremen retain their top-flight status, he could depart in the summer for a sizeable fee, potentially around €50m.

Interest is widespread, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Napoli among the clubs monitoring him.
