Olympique de Marseille midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has made an unexpected foray into music, releasing his first rap single, “Pots-de-vin”, on all major streaming platforms on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by La Provence. The Centrafrican international (22 caps) has been out of action since Marseille’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on September 16th, but while his return to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad is expected this weekend against Le Havre, it was his musical debut that caught supporters off guard this week.
Rumours of Kondogbia’s secret side project first surfaced after Faris Moumbagna, currently on loan at Cremonese, shared a video of himself on social media listening to an unknown rap track in his car. The clip quickly spread on social media, with fans suggesting the voice behind the microphone belonged to Kondogbia himself. Moumbagna cheekily captioned the video with “Sors le son” (“Drop the track”) — and a few days later, that’s exactly what happened.
Under the artist name “Kondo”, the former Atlético Madrid and Valencia midfielder confirmed the speculation by officially announcing “Pots-de-vin”.GFFN | George Boxall
