Olympique de Marseille will need to sell players this summer, with the club confirmed to miss out on UEFA Champions League football for next season. Mason Greenwood (24) represents the most bankable asset in the squad and OM are looking to attract a handsome fee, as per a report from L’Équipe.
As per reports, Greenwood is growing increasingly disinterested at OM, although, as he revealed during the UNFP awards on Monday, he wants to remain at the club beyond the summer. OM, it is understood, want to cash in on the Englishman.
Those with knowledge of the market believe that Greenwood is valued between €40-50m, especially given recent media reports alluding to the Englishman’s disinterest and a deterioration in the relationship between the forward and the club.
However, Marseille want a fee between €70-80m. L’Équipe understands that big clubs in Italy, Spain, Germany and Turkey have made enquiries. A return to the Premier League is not feasible, whilst the player is not open to a move to the Saudi Pro League. Manchester United still retain 40% of the player’s rights and would therefore take a large sum from any potential transfer at the end of the season.
