Marseille set their sights on Memphis Depay, but… | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille are reportedly pursuing Memphis Depay (32), according to Foot Mercato.

With the Dutchman’s contract with Corinthians due to expire on 31st July, OM’s new sporting management, led by sporting director Grégory Lorenzi, are said to have made contact with the striker’s representatives.

Having joined São Paulo in September 2024, the 112-time Dutch international (55 goals) has racked up no fewer than 79 appearances for Timão, scoring 20 goals, providing 15 assists and winning several trophies, including the Brazilian Cup.

However, Depay’s wage demands would make the move virtually impossible for the Marseille side, who are unlikely to succeed in bringing the Moordrecht-born player back to Ligue 1, where he played between 2017 and 2021 for Olympique Lyonnais.

It is therefore a fruitless attempt for Marseille, who, having parted ways with several key players, including Mason Greenwood (24) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (37), now need to strengthen their squad, having yet to sign a single new player since the transfer window opened.
