Marseille’s loan move for Chelsea centre-back Aaron Anselmino (19) is off, according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law. The 19-year-old defender spent the first part of the 2024-2025 campaign on loan at formative club Boca Juniors. He has been recalled by Chelsea last month after making 18 appearances across all competitions for Boca. Anselmino previously signed for the Blues from Boca last summer, penning a seven-year deal.

Marseille were looking to bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s defensive options as they terminated Lilian Brassier’s loan deal from Stade Brestois. The French centre-back has now joined Rennes. The Telegraph understands that Anselmino is set to spend the rest of the season under the tutelage of Enzo Maresca. L’Equipe reported yesterday that Anselmino’s Marseille loan move could be in jeopardy as the Blues needed to manage their loan spots on deadline day.
