Reports in Italy claim that a crucial round of talks between the Juventus management and the agent of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez are due to take place on Wednesday, following the stopper’s involvement in the 3-2 thriller between Argentina and Egypt at the 2026 World Cup.
It has been a busy summer for Martinez between his World Cup duties and his potential next career steps at club level. He and his Argentina teammates are through to the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals after coming back from 2-0 to claim a stoppage-time 3-2 victory against a brave Egypt side in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, reports back in Italy claim that Juventus are progressing in talks to sign Martinez from Aston Villa this summer.
According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, there were talks between the relevant parties on Tuesday, and now, Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali is ready to ‘accelerate’ in an attempt to close a deal.

Di Marzio reports that Carnevali, along with newly-appointed Chief Football Officer Ricky Massara, will hold a face-to-face meeting with Martinez’s agent on Wednesday. The purpose is to establish exactly how much it will take to convince the Argentina no.1 to move to Turin.
Once Juventus have established the amount they will need to offer Martinez, they will then begin focussing on negotiations with the goalkeeper’s current employers at Aston Villa.
