Their 32-year-old German striker, Marvin Ducksch, has scored ten of these league goals, which makes him Blues' current leading scorer for 25/26.

So, it’s perhaps not a surprise to find out that the former Borussia Dortmund youth talent is apparently attracting serious interest from abroad.

As per German outlet Bild, Greek side AEK Athens and La Liga club Real Sociedad have already ‘inquired’ about him ahead of the summer transfer window.

Ducksch is also attracting interest from the MLS in America, via the same aforementioned report. However, he only arrived at St Andrew’s last year in a deal worth around €2m (£1.7m) from Werder Bremen.

'Tricky' Birmingham City verdict on potential Marvin Ducksch transfer exit

Along with hitting ten goals in the Championship - the most recent being in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United - Ducksch has also one assist and an FA Cup goal to his name this season.

For someone who's on an ESTIMATED £25k-per-week until 2028, it's fair to say some Bluenoses would've expected him to be the 'main' man anyway.

Which is why FLW's Birmingham Fan Pundit, Jason Moore, admits the potential exit talk is far from straightforward. He said, "It’s a tricky one with Marvin. I personally love him. I think he’s real, real quality and if I’m given the option of whether he goes or stays, for me he stays.

"I think a lot of fans are frustrated with him, but for me, he’s the only one that ever really pops up with real quality for us lately. Whether people like it or not, he’s scoring goals for us in a team that frankly isn’t scoring much," Moore added.

The Fan Pundit then explained, "Do I think he’s the out-and-out number 10 we need, no. But, do I think that warrants getting rid of him, no, not at all. He’s quality and you just don’t lose him."

Marvin Ducksch may 'want' to leave Birmingham City amid transfer talk

Despite his obvious desire to see Ducksch stay at the club, Moore fears that the player’s own ambitions could ultimately drive a departure rather than any eagerness from Birmingham to move him on.

"I think he potentially does go, not because Blues want him to go, but because he wants to go," Moore said.

"He’s going to be 33 before we know it and I think he expected to come here and walk the Championship with Blues, as some fans did, and be playing Premier League football next season," the Fan Pundit continued.

Being seven points outside the playoffs, it's somewhat unlikely that Blues get a spot inside the top six, so he striker may feel this summer is his last big opportunity to secure top-flight football.

Which is why Moore believes a sale is more likely than not - but only on Blues’ terms. He concluded by telling FLW, "So yeah, I think he’s probably going to be on his way. At his age, if we can get the money back that we paid for him, I’d be content if he had to go. I think that’s good business, but I’d really, really like us to retain him."

Ultimately, depending on how many goals he finishes the season with, Ducksch may have done enough individually to justify another crack at a higher level, yet it remains to be seen how the player feels about staying in the West Midlands.
