Heidenheim struck first with style against Cologne on Saturday in matchday 16, as Marvin Pieringer produced an acrobatic finish.

According to L'Équipe, within the opening quarter-hour Jan Schöppner floated a gentle cross from the right towards the penalty spot, and Pieringer, slightly off balance, turned it into the net with an athletic effort.

Pieringer, 26, registered his second Bundesliga goal of the season.

He had previously scored against Sankt Pauli in mid-December, a 1-2 defeat.

The opener was a setback for Cologne, who are winless in their last six league matches, with two draws and four defeats.
