Mason Greenwood is all set to complete his move from Olympique de Marseille to Fenerbahçe, as per a report from Fabrizio Romano.
It has been expected all summer that Greenwood would leave Marseille, who are desperately in need of player sales in order to balance the books. As their most bankable asset, the former Manchester United forward was the most obvious candidate to depart.
The two contenders for his signature were Fenerbahçe and Atletico Madrid. The latter were keen on the move to the Spanish capital, L’Équipe understands. However, the La Liga giants perceived a “nonchalance” from the Englishman, who told his OM teammates that he was keen to join Atletico Madrid, but then took two days to respond to Diego Simeone. As a result, the Spanish side pulled out of the running.
As a result, Greenwood will join Fenerbahçe. The deal, the Italian journalist understands, is worth €40m plus €2m in add-ons. Manchester United will get €10m thanks to their sell-on clause. The forward will sign a four-year deal worth €10m per year.
