Franco Mastantuono said he was honoured after becoming Fiorentina’s youngest hat-trick scorer in a competitive match, his treble sealing a 4-2 win at Venezia. It was their first victory of the season and came on Paolo Vanoli’s second debut as coach.

The 19-year-old Real Madrid loanee said, "For me, it's an honour to enter the history of such a prestigious club," speaking to DAZN.

"It was important to get a result today, and we played a great game. I'm happy with the win, aside from the goals."

He was named Serie A’s Man of the Match, yet suggested Nicolò Fagioli deserved it too. "He put in a great performance, like the rest of the team."

Mastantuono joined Fiorentina on a dry loan from Real Madrid in August, so there is no option to make the move permanent at season’s end.

He moved to Madrid from River Plate a year ago for €45m and has already matched last season’s tally there, scoring three times in 35 appearances across all competitions, with one assist.
