Manchester United overcame Arsenal 3-2 away at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as Michael Carrick continued his brilliant start to life in the hot seat.

The caretaker head coach had the perfect game plan against the Premier League leaders, while his man-management seems to have brought out the best in previously maligned stars.

Not to mention his courageous substitutions. Former head coach Ruben Amorim was known for playing it too safe, but not the United legend.

He made attacking substitutions, and for the second game running, Matheus Cunha came up with the goods after coming off the bench.

Matheus Cunha explosive outburst

Against Manchester City, he set up Patrick Dorgu’s winner, while against the Gunners, he scored a brilliant winner late in the game.

The Brazilian was naturally delighted with the goal, but he could be the subject of an FA ban following his overzealous celebrations.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers star was caught swearing at the pitchside camera, “It’s the f*****g biggest!”.

Sky Sports commentator Peter Drury was forced to apologise live on air for the X-rated outburst from Matheus Cunha.

“If you heard some bad language in among the celebrations, for that we apologise,” he said.

History could repeat itself

FA rules suggest a player can be sent off for “offensive, insulting or abusive language”. They can also take retrospective action if deemed necessary.

The 20-time English league champions had faced this back when Wayne Rooney was caught hurling expletives at the camera following his stunning hat-trick against West Ham back in 2011.

The legendary striker was handed a two-match ban and a hefty fine. Sir Alex Ferguson was livid and it will be interesting to see how Carrick and INEOS react if history repeats itself.
