Doubts emerged over Manchester United’s deal for the Wolves forward after missing out on Champions League qualification
Manchester United are reportedly still on course to sign Wolves forward Matheus Cunha this summer.
Cunha has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford as part of Ruben Amorim’s attempts to rebuild a squad that has struggled in the Premier League this season.
It was reported at the beginning of the week that the Brazilian was set to join the Red Devils as soon as the campaign ends with the club expected to trigger the £62.5m release clause in his contract with Wolves.
That said, doubts did emerge over this deal following Man United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the all-English Europa League final on Wednesday night.
Not only have United failed to qualify for the Champions League, they will not be playing in any European competition at all next season due to their poor Premier League performance.
However, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has stated the Cunha to Man Utd deal is still on.
Speaking on the GIVEMESPORT Market Madness Podcast, Romano said: "United already told Matheus Cunha that they are prepared to trigger the clause, so there will be no issues.
"And so I think it's going to be the first signing of the summer for United. And it's important to say that the player wanted this move, regardless of Champions League football or not, regardless of what happens in the Europa League final.
"Cunha wants to play for Manchester United, and my understanding is that he will play for Manchester United."

Whilst the Cunha update is good news for Man United fans, it’s unlikely to the be the case with regard to their pursuit of Ipswich striker Liam Delap.
Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League means the £30m release clause in Delap’s contract can be activated this summer and it was reported by Sky Sports News last week that Man Utd were believed to be in ‘pole position’ ahead of Chelsea and Newcastle for the striker’s signature.
Though the report stated that whilst Delap would be happy to move to Old Trafford this summer, his final decision could be swayed by the outcome of the Europa League final.
