Mathieu Bodmer plays down need to consult Kylian Mbappé at Caen | OneFootball

Mathieu Bodmer, appointed director of football at Caen this summer, says he has not spoken to club shareholder Kylian Mbappé about his arrival and does not view it as essential.

According to L'Équipe, he said any conversation would happen naturally, that Mbappé has his career to manage, and that his ideal is to tell him not to worry about Caen because they will handle matters.

Bodmer, 43, previously served as sporting director at Le Havre for four years. He first joined Caen in 1998 in the youth set-up and stayed until 2003.

He has returned to his formative club aiming to revive it towards Ligue 2.

Caen dropped to the third tier after finishing bottom of Ligue 2 in 2024-2025. Last season it ended eighth in National.
