Matt Ingram has joined Albion on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, becoming their fourth signing of the summer. The 32-year-old goalkeeper said the club’s ambition drew him to The Hawthorns.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the former Oxford shot-stopper arrived from the relegated Championship U’s and is likely to start as back-up to Max O’Leary, who extended his stay this summer.

Ingram spent the last two seasons as understudy to Jamie Cumming at Oxford in the second tier, having previously featured for QPR and Hull. “It’s a massive club with big ambition,” said Ingram. “I know last year wasn’t the season anyone expected, but for me growing up, this was a Premier League club and it’s an offer too good to turn down.”

He said he has been in regular contact with goalkeeper coach Boaz Myhill since interest first emerged. “He’s walked me through the building, shown me around and introduced me to everyone.”

“The facilities are great and the pitches look in perfect shape, so I can’t wait to get going. I’m really looking forward to it and I can’t wait to start working with the lads.” Albion’s squad are due back for pre-season under Morrison and his new backroom staff on Thursday.
