Moises Caicedo has been sensational for Chelsea this season, but his form has dipped a little. Contract talks could be affecting him.
If you ask Chelsea fans who they expect to win their player of the year award, Moises Caicedo would be heavy favourite. But if you’d asked them a month ago, he would have been undisputed.
His form has just tailed off a little of late, and on the London is Blue podcast they asked why that might be.

“Does he want a new contract? Does he want that contract sorted out? We know that Chelsea have got him very high on a list of people who deserve better remuneration and deserve a bump,” Telegraph writer Matt Law said.
“Is that playing on his mind? Does he want that to happen? Are talks going on in the background? That has been known to affect players form in the past.”
Often players actually get better when they’re playing for a new contract. But we can also see why speculation about one’s future and other off the pitch issues could affect someone.
It’s hardly been a major change, he’s still playing well. But it’s another reminder that the sooner we sort this deal out, the better. He deserves it, and the whole team will benefit from him playing with a clear mind.

Also on the London is Blue podcast, Law spoke a little about Levi Colwill’s return from injury and had a disappointing update.
The last few weeks have seen some Chelsea interest in Marcos Senesi rumoured – but it always felt unlikely, and recent updates have confirmed that suspicion.
