A sense of frustration is brewing for Paris Saint-Germain's Russian goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, who is already seeking an exit route from the French capital after just a few months. According to reports, the 26-year-old has grown disillusioned with his bit-part role and is determined to secure a move away in his quest for regular football.

The core of the issue appears to be the formidable presence of fellow goalkeeper Chevalier. Safonov is said to have realistically assessed the pecking order under manager Luis Enrique and concluded that his chances of claiming the starting position are slim. This realization has fueled his desire to find a new club where he can be the undisputed first choice between the posts.

Having arrived with promise in the summer of 2024 from Krasnodar for a fee of €20 million, Safonov's stint has so far failed to take off. Despite making 17 appearances for the club last season and conceding a respectable 13 goals, he has been completely sidelined in the current campaign, yet to feature in a single match.

This lack of action is a difficult reality for a player whose contract binds him to PSG until 2029. With a market value currently estimated at €18 million, the coming transfer windows could see the Parisians faced with a decision: integrate the goalkeeper they invested in or facilitate his departure to a club where his talents won't be confined to the bench.
