According to Sport Bild, Max Eberl’s chances of extending his Bayern Munich contract beyond 2027 are about 50-50.
Eberl endured a challenging start but has since drawn strong praise as board member for sport, appointing Vincent Kompany and recruiting attackers Michael Olise and Luis Díaz.
Even so, an extension is not assured. The supervisory board is said to be frustrated by being involved too late in decisions, and by Eberl’s speed in contract talks.
His negotiating outcomes have not always been optimal either. In the Kingsley Coman sale, Eberl initially agreed a €25 million fee with Al Nassr before the supervisory board deemed it too low and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen completed the deal at €30 million.
The picture is different for Dreesen, whose renewal beyond 2027 is viewed as a formality. Sporting director Christoph Freund also looks set for a new deal beyond 2027, with his work highly valued internally.
