On two December 2023, young Nantes supporter Maxime Leroy was fatally stabbed following a violent altercation with a VTC driver.

According to L'Équipe, the moments leading up to the incident and the minutes that followed have been reconstructed.

At 20:00 that Saturday, a call reached the central police station in Nantes.

It reported a man in cardiorespiratory arrest on the public road at 41 Avenue de la Gare Saint-Joseph.

Only a few dozen metres away, Stade de la Beaujoire was preparing to stage a Ligue 1 match between FC Nantes and OGC Nice, with kick-off an hour later. Flowers were later laid there.
