Maycon Cardozo, 17, has impressed in the early weeks of Bayern Munich’s pre-season, catching Vincent Kompany’s eye with his drive and determination.

Bild reports he is among the early winners of camp, after strong training displays and a bright cameo in the 15-0 win over Rottach-Egern.

Bayern’s U-23s have started slowly in the Regionalliga. Even so, head coach Dante has been struck by Cardozo’s relentlessness, at one stage asking him not to sprint constantly, and praising his focus and example.

His performances have earned him a place on Bayern’s Asia tour squad, and he could get minutes in the friendlies.

After the trip, it will become clearer whether he has a realistic chance of playing a role for the first team this season.
