Mayke ruled out with virus as Santos visit Recoleta in Copa Sudamericana | OneFootball

Santos will be without right-back Mayke for Tuesday’s Copa Sudamericana meeting with Recoleta at 21:30 Brasília time, at the Monumental Río Parapití in Pedro Juan Caballero.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the right-back developed a virus on Saturday. Despite not being fully fit, he was named on the bench for the derby against Palmeiras in the Campeonato Brasileiro, and after the match coach Cuca said he was not in condition to play.

Mayke had featured regularly and started two recent matches. He was in line to begin again against Palmeiras, but the illness kept him out of the starting XI.

Santos will also be without Lautaro Díaz, who continues to feel pain in his right thigh. The medical department is treating Vinícius Lira, recovering from a left knee injury, Gustavo Henrique, with a left adductor issue, and Gabriel Menino, who is in a physical transition phase.

The team travel under pressure given their position in the group. Santos are bottom of Group D, with two points from three rounds, and they need a positive result to keep their qualification hopes alive.
