Former Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam is quite critical of the Partenopei after a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, warning that they won’t advance to the next stage if they don’t create more in attack.
Napoli were held to a 0-0 home draw by Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League Week 4 on Tuesday.
The Partenopei now have four points in the standings.
Antonio Conte said his team deserved to win, but Ghoulam didn’t seem to agree.

“In my opinion, they did far too little to hope to win this match. Eintracht’s performance was a bit strange, because they came here just to defend,” Ghoulam told Sky Sport (via TuttoNapoli).
“Napoli almost had 70% possession. Right now, Napoli struggle to create goal-scoring opportunities. They created some today, but not enough for this level and to advance to the next stage.

“Anguissa played a great game; he was definitely Napoli’s best player. He and McTominay were the most dangerous,” continued the ex-Algeria international.
“They are two midfielders, so strikers clearly didn’t do well enough. We spoke about Lang’s impact from the bench, but it wasn’t enough, especially at the Maradona.
“Napoli kept a low rhythm, which suited Eintracht just fine. They started wasting time with their goalkeeper at minute 30. They had lost 5-1 in both of their latest matches. It makes sense that they tried to defend more, but for Napoli and their ambitions, they have to create more.”
