Medical tests have revealed Yeremy Pino did not suffer a broken collarbone after Spain’s 1-0 win over Uruguay. According to Superdeporte, the update followed concerns after the winger was hurt late on.

The bruising contest secured first place for Spain and eliminated Uruguay, amid lenient refereeing. Luis de la Fuente withdrew Lamine Yamal to avoid risking him for the rest of the tournament.

Pino, the Crystal Palace attacker, replaced him for his second outing of the tournament and was caught by a heavy challenge to his left shoulder. With no substitutions remaining he stayed on despite initial fears of a clavicle fracture, which De la Fuente later described as a heroic effort.

Medical assessment has identified an acromioclavicular sprain, with recovery for a professional typically between two and 12 weeks depending on severity and progress. Pending official confirmation, his World Cup could be over.

Nico Williams appears to have fared better after a strong tackle from behind by De la Cruz while launching a counter. He left with discomfort and will undergo tests to determine whether he can feature in the round of 32 opener.
