Manchester United Women missed out on European football after finishing fourth.
They also finished as runners-up once again to Chelsea in the World Sevens tournament in London over the weekend.
The Red Devils also lost their first ever League Cup final to the Blues in March.
This summer, it is essential that Marc Skinner’s side is bolstered, and they have reportedly agreed a deal with Spaniard Andrea Medina.
Nonetheless, there have been concerning rumours that United may be prepared to sell striker Elisabeth Terland during this summer window.
In news no fans of the Women’s team want to hear, United may be about to lose their French star Melvine Malard.
She was electric during the World Sevens tournament, scoring six goals in total.
Malard also impressed during the regular season, scoring six goals in the league and four in the Champions League, including in the quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich.
Sky Sports news reporter Anton Toloui has reported that, “Manchester United face a battle to keep hold of Melvine Malard this summer.”
He confirmed that “two bids from NWSL clubs have already come in” for the 25-year-old.
Concerningly for United, she “is about to enter the last year of her contract and is also a target for teams involved in the Champions League.”
Malard has been one of the Red Devils’ most consistent and threatening attacking players since joining the club in 2023. United fans will be hoping the club can convince her that there is a better future for her at the Progress with Unity Stadium.
