Memphis Depay, 32, is close to signing a new Corinthians contract to mid-2028 after final medical checks.

According to Meu Timao, he was at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava on Wednesday for final tests, a day after initial checks showed no issues, then around 11:00 headed to Parque São Jorge to sign.

Even if the deal is imminent, the club expect he will need physical reconditioning before returning for Fernando Diniz, unless he arrives in ideal shape.

Corinthians await a CBF ruling on his Copa do Brasil status. They trail Internacional 2-0 before Thursday's 20:00 return at Neo Química Arena.

The board believe he was registered within the deadline and are also finalising a Brazilian work visa.

Despite three active transfer bans and his previous deal expiring on 31 July, club and CBF understand there is no obstacle to registering the new contract.

Depay has not played since 25 June, when the Netherlands beat Tunisia 3-1 in the World Cup group stage, then exited to Morocco in the round of 32.

In 2026 he has made 14 appearances for Corinthians, scoring once with one assist. He missed about two months from March to May with a right thigh muscle injury.
