Memphis Depay has been called up by Ronald Koeman for the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup, making him Corinthians’ only representative.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians will release the No 10 after Wednesday’s Libertadores tie, with the Netherlands squad due to report to the KNVB base in Zeist on 30 May.
During the tournament the Dutch will be based in the Kansas City area, using the Kansas City Current Training Facility and the Cascade Hotel.
Depay will miss Saturday’s league trip to Grêmio at 17:30 in Rio Grande do Sul, the final round before the World Cup pause. He is in contention to start tonight at 21:30 against Platense at Neo Química Arena, the last Group E fixture, with Corinthians already through and top secured.
The Netherlands face Japan on 14 June at 17:00 in Arlington, Sweden on 20 June at 14:00 in Houston, then Tunisia on 25 June at 20:00 in Kansas City, all in the United States. Their group crosses with Brazil’s in the last 32.
A grade 2 right thigh injury on 22 March in a 1-1 draw with Flamengo sidelined Depay for over two months, before his substitute return in Sunday’s win at Atlético-MG. FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme will pay 11,000 dollars per day, about R$ 60,000, to clubs with players at the tournament, so Corinthians will be compensated while he is away.
