Manchester United retain their interest in Joao Gomes ahead of an anticipated summer move for the player.
Indeed, Manchester Evening News claims this afternoon that the midfielder is ‘expected to leave’ Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of the season, when the club’s relegation to the Championship will have been set in stone.

Wolves sit rock-bottom of the Premier League heading into their final seven matches of the campaign, although they have enjoyed a revitalised run of form in recent weeks, overseeing shock wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool, as well as a 2-2 draw with leaders Arsenal.
Back in December, they also claimed a crucial point via a 1-1 draw with the Reds at Old Trafford, with Gomes winning Man of the Match in his M16 audition.
Rob Edwards will undoubtedly be doing his utmost behind the scenes to convince the Brazilian to stay put, especially considering he put pen to paper on a contract extension until 2030 only last April.

However, you can’t really blame Gomes for wanting to embark on a new venture, one that ensures he’ll continue plying his trade in the top flight. In doing so, he’ll also stay in contention for the Brazil squad, where he’s already earned 10 senior caps.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee Wolves would demand for the 25-year-old, whom they paid £15 million for when he signed from Flamengo in 2021.
He is valued at £30m by Transfermarkt, though the club’s prospective relegation might see them forced to accept a cut-price fee, given the player will be actively pushing for a transfer.
