Lionel Messi has been named MLS Player of the Matchday for the final weekend of the regular season after a dominant performance in Inter Miami’s 5–2 win over Nashville SC.

The Argentine superstar recorded a hat-trick and an assist, leading Miami to a commanding Decision Day victory and securing the 2025 MLS Golden Boot with 29 goals and 19 assists; topping the league in both categories.

The award marks Messi’s sixth Player of the Matchday honor, making him the first player in league history to win the award in consecutive seasons.

Messi was at the heart of everything Miami did well against Nashville, scoring twice in the first half, adding another after the break, and setting up Telasco Segovia in stoppage time.

For Messi, it was another statement showing in a season filled with milestones, and a timely reminder that even deep into his career, he continues to set the standard in MLS.

Inter Miami will square off with Nashville once again, this time in the MLS Cup Playoffs first round.
