According to Superdeporte, Leo Messi has taken the decisive step to become Club Deportivo Eldense’s new owner, formalising a takeover that still needs CSD approval.
The move implements the preliminary agreement reached last week between Messi’s representatives and the outgoing owner, Colombian businesswoman Carolina Holguín. The club’s financial audit, a due diligence review, is running in parallel and could continue for several weeks.
The deal had briefly come under scrutiny after the former owner, Pascual Pérez, sought to have the club’s shares frozen over a disputed debt of about one million euros. Holguín maintained that the claim did not endanger the sale.
She also argued the Eldense shares were fully paid, that the dispute concerned ownership, and that she had the means to cover any sum a judge might later set.
Messi’s camp have completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares. The next step is formal CSD sign-off while the financial analysis continues.
On the pitch, Eldense recorded their first win of the LaLiga Hypermotion season on Sunday, beating Sporting de Gijón 0-1 at El Molinón.
The result carried over to social media, where Messi interacted with the club’s post by leaving a like on the official account.
