Messi scores, but Inter Miami falls to Nashville
Inter Miami suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road against Nashville this Saturday, November 1, despite a late goal from Lionel Messi. As a result, there will be a decisive third match in Miami on November 8 to determine who advances to the next round.
In rainy and cold conditions, Javier Mascherano's squad struggled to assert themselves. Nashville struck twice in the first half, with goals from Sam Surridge (9') and Josh Bauer (45'). Messi pulled one back in the 89th minute, but it was too late to prevent the loss.
Miami nevertheless dominated possession and created several chances. Luis Suárez even struck the post. After the match, Mascherano did not hide his disappointment: "I'd rather not talk about the refereeing," he said, frustrated by several of the referee's decisions.
The next match promises to be intense. Messi and his teammates will have to give everything at home to keep their playoff hopes alive.
