Metz sign centre-back Jean Ruiz on a free after four years at Pau | OneFootball

Metz have signed centre-back Jean Ruiz on a free after four years at Pau, agreeing a three-year contract to June 2029. According to L'Équipe, the 28-year-old is their first addition of the summer.

His arrival comes as Terry Yegbe has joined Lech Poznan, with Sadibou Sané expected to follow. Ruiz is well versed in Ligue 2, with 174 appearances since breaking through at Sochaux.

He has also played for Sion and US Boulogne, and represented France from under-17 to under-20 level. He will now target an immediate return to the top flight with Metz.

Metz have also announced a contract extension for Bouna Sarr.

Ruiz said his four seasons at Pau were spent battling to stay up and that he wanted a fresh challenge. He described pride at joining an ambitious club, is eager to play at Saint-Symphorien, will give everything and hopes for strong backing from supporters.
