More Major League Soccer action continued on Sunday. Here is what went down across the league.

San Diego FC miss chance to go top

Scorers: Ingvartsen 27', Dreyer 56'; Solans 17', Olatunji

Two goals each on either side of the half were enough for San Diego FC and Real Salt Lake to fight for at least a point during Sunday's late show.

The opener arrived when Sergi Solans leapt highest around the six-yard box and beat goalkeeper Duran Ferree with a darting header.

Then, after Rafael Cabral thought he had initially saved an attempt at the other end, the equalizer arrived when Marcus Ingvartsen found himself in the right place at the right time.

It could have been a third goal of the night right before the half-time whistle, but defender Manu Duah somehow pulled off a backheel flick right on the line to save San Diego from blushing.

With the game wide open and both sides hunting for the winning goal, it was only a matter of time until a star man made a decisive impact.

Anders Dreyer, wide open on the right while bursting through, touched the ball around RSL players and dinked it home for 2-1.

However, a late effort from Victor Olatunji arriving at the back post was enough to ensure the points were split.

The result means San Diego missed a chance to sit top of the West and are fourth, with RSL only one point back in sixth.

To make matters even worse, Christopher McVey was also shown a late red in the dying moments.

10-man Portland frustrate LA Galaxy

Scorers: Velde 13'; Klauss 30'. Red: Miller 19'

Despite playing a man down for over an hour, the Portland Timbers managed to salvage a point against the LA Galaxy in a 1-1 draw.

It was the hosts who initially came out flying, and that led to the opener in front of fans. Kristoffer Velde picked up the ball after peeling off defenders and sliced home into the bottom right corner.

But just minutes later, the Timbers were down a man. Kamal Miller's challenge on João Klauss' Achilles tendon was initially yellow, but was later upgraded to a red card.

The German mentioned above would eventually pull one back after combining with fellow German Marco Reus in a swift link up as the Galaxy turned things 1-1.

Unfortunately for the visitors, they failed to score a second time despite 17 shots in the final 15 minutes and the man advantage. It will therefore go down as a big missed opportunity for the visitors inside a tough stadium.

Looking at the table, LA Galaxy are 10th while Portland are second from the bottom.

Minnesota and Seattle share spoils

Scorers: N/A

The points were forced to be split at Allianz Field as Minnesota United and Seattle Sounders played out a 0-0 draw.

With just four shots on target combined by full-time, that's the stat which sums up this contest between the two clubs.

However, Seattle were the ones attempting to add more bite to their efforts with over 650 passes compared to roughly only 300 for Minnesota.

Unfortunately for the visitors, the goalless draw is coupled by the fact that Alex Roldan was substituted off with an apparent hip injury.

Meanwhile, the introduction of Colombian star James Rodriguez couldn't spark a late winner (or first club goal) for the hosts.

The result sees Seattle sit fifth, and Minnesota 11th.

Messi helps Miami rally in NYC

Scorers: Fernandez 17', Ojeda 59'; Lujan 4', Messi 61', Micael 74'

It was a back-and-forth affair at Yankee Stadium, with Inter Miami eventually rallying for a 3-2 victory over an impressive New York City FC side.

When the visitors opened the scoring after only four minutes via Gonzalo Lujan's low drilled effort, it appeared they'd make light work of the hosts.

However, a stunning free-kick from outside the box by Nicolas Fernandez lit the initial comeback threat.

Then, some speedy pace after the break from Agustin Ojeda turned things around in City's favour as he split two defenders and slotted home beyond goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.

Miami still weren't done, however, as Lionel Messi decided to have his say.

The Argentina star scored a low, direct free-kick of his own, which deflected into the net for 2-2, all before Micael headed home the winner into the far back post for his first Miami goal.

The result goes down as NYCFC's first loss of the season (second place), while Miami (third) ensure they're level on points and just three back of leaders Nashville.

10-man Cincinnati break MTL hearts

Scorers: Echenique 40', Jabbari 52', Barlow 80', Denkey 90+4'; Carmona 6', Owusu 45', 64' (P). Red: Robinson 60'

This seven-goal contest was filled with plenty of drama as 10-man FC Cincinnati held on to beat Montreal 4-3 in the dying moments.

As in the other early match, the visitors opened the scoring first as Wikelman Carmona unleashed a low drive from outside the box. Then everything popped off inside TQL Stadium.

Ender Echenique tucked a ball home perfectly inside the box after some fancy footwork to make things 1-1.

Just before half-time, however, an in-form Prince Owusu turned things back in favour of the Canadian side.

Behind coming into the second half, Cincy then turned up the heat. Ayoub Jabbari pulled things level after some nice solo work from Echenique in the build-up.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Cincinnati were reduced to 10 men as Miles Robinson was shown a straight red card. Montreal, meanwhile, were awarded a penalty in the process, which Owusu converted for 3-2.

The final 10 minutes then brought all the chaos.

First, an alert Tom Barlow beat Efrain Morales in a foot race to poke home the equalizer, ensuring the points were at least split.

Then, with 90+4 on the clock, Kevin Denkey was left unmarked in the middle of the net and bundled home from point-blank range for the winner.

Looking at the table, Cincinnati now sit ninth while Montreal are 12th.
