Michael Carrick extends Manchester United contract until 2028 after interim stint | OneFootball

The club said in a statement that Michael Carrick has extended his contract as head coach until 2028. He has served as interim since mid-January, lifting the side into the Premier League top three.

As expected, Carrick will continue in the dugout. He initially took charge as interim to replace Ruben Amorim.

He expressed immense pride at leading such a special club. Over the past five months, he highlighted the squad's resilience, solidarity and determination, and urged the group to move forward together with ambition and a clear objective.

The 44-year-old oversaw a rapid recovery in half a season, moving United from sixth to third and securing next season's Champions League. The club had not finished on the podium since 2022-2023.

Under him, Bruno Fernandes's side won 11 of 16 matches, including notable victories over Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.
