Michele Kang is expected to take sole control of Olympique Lyonnais after agreeing a deal with Ares and Cork Gully to significantly increase her stake, according to L'Équipe. Ares is the main creditor of Eagle Bidco and Cork Gully is administering the liquidation of the holding that owns about 87% of the club.

The agreement involves a major cash injection from the American billionaire and was finalised at the last moment after weeks of uncertainty. The move comes as Lyon face a decisive DNCG hearing this Tuesday morning.

Without clarity on ownership and governance, the club would have risked administrative relegation to Ligue 2. The case should therefore be easier before the financial watchdog, although nothing is guaranteed given the fragile finances.

With John Textor having stepped back, Kang is taking the reins alone, with no capital partnership with Ares in the club’s future direction. Operational governance is not expected to change in the short term.

Michael Gerlinger is expected to remain chief executive, a continuity seen as important internally. Lyon have moved back within constraints in recent months, notably by sharply trimming the wage bill and selling Afonso Moreira to Bayer Leverkusen for €33.6m including bonuses.
